Princeton University claimed the top spot in the first regular season USRowing/Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association NCAA Division I Varsity Eight Coaches Poll, while Mercyhurst College and Smith College topped the Division II and Division III polls, respectively.

In Division I, preseason No. 1 Princeton earned 20 of 23 first-place votes to remain atop the poll. Yale University received one first-place vote to rank second, while Ohio State University moved up to the No. 3 position. Both Brown University and the University of Michigan received one first-place vote and rounded out the top five.

Defending national champion Mercyhurst College remained atop the Division II poll, receiving three of five first-place votes. Western Washington received the other two first-place votes to rank second, while Nova Southeastern moved into the third position.

In the Division III poll, Smith College earned all nine first-place votes to keep the top spot in the poll. Ithaca College ranked second, followed by Trinity College, Williams College, and William Smith College.
